Despite the plethora of information, new lotions, potions and treatments, there is one product that every beauty therapist (who is serious about skin) swears by.
Don't worry, its not some rare tree sap from the amazon that costs more then a car per jar. It's the ever humble SUNSCREEN.
If you aren't wearing sunscreen right now, then stop what you are doing, and put some on. We live in AUSTRALIA people!
The big ball of light in the sky isn't just responsible for freckles and sunspots, those rays of light are responsible for a lot of free radical damage which plays havoc with complexions. Got fine lines? Thank the sun for that, Rough skin? Sun. Broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks? Sun.
Of course there are other factors such as exposure to pollution, alcohol and smoking which accelerate the ageing process but sun exposure is the most prevalent and damaging.
So what now? While ageing is a natural part of your skins life, there is no need to hurry it along. Focus on corrective treatments and products (to help undo previous damage from the sun) and wear sunscreen EVERYDAY to prevent further damage.
Side note: Apply sunscreen to everywhere that gets some sun. Include your neck, decollate, back of hands etc. as these are usually makeup free areas and can be real indicators of age (for those trying to stretch out their twenties or thirties a little longer )
